I’ve been an entrepreneur for 16 years. I’ve seen trends come and go, but one that stands out for me is the integration of mindfulness, awareness, and well-being into my business practices.
This is what I call Conscious Entrepreneurship.
And let me debunk a myth: this is not “woo-woo” – it’s a strategic imperative for long-term success and happiness.
What’s the business impact?
Recent studies have shown that mindfulness in business leaders leads to better decision-making and enhanced creativity. For example, recent research showed that mindfulness practices led to a 28% reduction in stress, 20% improvement in sleep quality, and a 19% reduction in pain, contributing to an average gain of 62 minutes of productivity per week.
Is this really mainstream?
Look at the likes of Jeff Weiner, former CEO of LinkedIn, Marc Benioff of Salesforce, or Jack Dorsey of Twitter/Block. They are all vocal advocates of mindfulness and attribute much of their success to these practices.
Not to mention the highly successful entrepreneurs who have shared their journeys with us, onstage and on the podcast: Vlada Bortnik of Marco Polo, Anna Gudmundson of Sensate, Bryan Leach of Ibotta, Yong Kim of Wonolo, Paddy Condon of FBC, Godard Abel of G2, Tracy Lawrence of Chewse – all of whom are serious, dedicated, thoughtful and impactful entrepreneurs.
In my own journey, balancing well-being with ambition has not only enhanced my personal life but also propelled my business (Kapta) forward. It’s about being a better leader, fostering a positive work environment, and ultimately building a more resilient and successful company.
Mindfulness Is Not Optional, It’s Essential
I often say, the JV team thinks mindfulness is optional, but the Varsity team knows it’s a requirement for success. It’s not just about inner peace; it’s about outer results. The world’s top entrepreneurs use mindfulness as a tool to sharpen their focus, drive innovation, and maintain their health under pressure.
Join Me at The Conscious Entrepreneur Summit
I’m thrilled to announce that The Conscious Entrepreneur Summit is coming back to Boulder, Colorado on June 4 and 5.
Now in its third year, CES (or the “other CES” to some 😉) is more than an event. It’s a convergence of ideas, practices, and strategies for entrepreneurs who are serious about scaling their businesses without sacrificing their well-being. We’ll dive into practical mindfulness strategies, hear from incredible entrepreneurs, and share experiences that transform how we do business.
This June, let’s redefine entrepreneurial success together. It’s time to balance our well-being with our ambition and unlock our full potential.
